Dive into Discovery at Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa

Category: News Stories

Some of the best adventures in the Maldives begin beneath the surface. At Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, the warm waters surrounding Thilamaafushi lead to more than 50 dive sites across Lhaviyani Atoll, creating an underwater playground for first-time divers and seasoned explorers alike.

Your First Breath Underwater

Never dived before? Thilamaafushi might just be the place to start. The resort's SSI-certified Dive Centre makes that first plunge accessible with Try Scuba, introducing the essentials before heading underwater with a qualified dive professional.

And that first dive does not have to be the last. SSI Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver programmes allow guests to work towards certification during their island escape, while Advanced Open Water and speciality courses bring new challenges for more experienced divers.

50+ Dive Sites. A Different Adventure Every Time.

Lhaviyani Atoll is made for exploration. Beneath its turquoise surface, coral formations burst with colour as schools of tropical fish sweep past, turtles glide through the blue, rays cruise above the reef and reef sharks make an appearance.

The adventure can begin directly from Thilamaafushi's housereef or head further into the atoll by boat, with single dives, two-tank excursions and multi-day options. After sunset, the familiar reef takes on an entirely different character as nocturnal marine life emerges for night diving.

Go Deeper Than the Dive

There is more to the ocean than what appears through a dive mask. Coral reefs and natural seagrass meadows form part of the living ecosystem surrounding Thilamaafushi, and the resort's Marine Conservation Hub brings guests closer to the stories unfolding beneath the waves.

The Marine Master Programme turns curiosity into hands-on learning alongside the resort’s marine biologist. As part of Good Travel with Marriott Bonvoy, the programme creates opportunities to engage with marine conservation initiatives and leave the island with a deeper understanding of the environment explored along the way.

And the Adventure Does Not Stop at the Water's Edge
Back on land, the pace is yours to set. Pick up a padel racket for a match overlooking the Indian Ocean, cycle around the island, paddle across the lagoon by kayak or stand-up paddle, or greet the morning with yoga as Thilamaafushi wakes up.

Families can get in on the action too, with snorkelling, watersports and a calendar of activities at The Family Kids Hub keeping younger explorers busy. And when it is time to switch gears, Explore Spa awaits above the lagoon, while La Vie adults-only pairs a glass of rosé with one of the island's best sunset views.

At Le Méridien Maldives, an active holiday can start with a single plunge and unfold into an island full of possibilities, above the water, beneath it and everywhere in between.
