Devasom Khao Lak Beach Resort & Villas: The Andaman's Best-Kept Culinary Secret

Category: News Stories

Travel through an authentic Thai culinary journey where every course surprises: a curry stained gold with turmeric, a chilli paste sharp enough to make your eyes water, and sator — the infamous "stink bean" — turned mellow and moreish once it hits the pan with prawns. This is Southern Thai cooking at its most direct, and it's the backbone of Devasom Khao Lak's eight-course Takola Journey.

At TAKOLA, its MICHELIN Guide-recognised restaurant, Executive Chef Polkrit Innirut sources each course from the fishing communities along this stretch of the Andaman, tracing them back to Takua-Pa's own history as Takola, an ancient trading port on the Silk Road. The signature dish, Flamed King Prawn with Fish Gravy and Trout Roe, uses banana prawns landed by local fishermen and a fermented fish sauce cured further along the coast. The best meal is the one that tells the story of the place.
